Opening and Closing Prayers for the TEA Party Rally at the Fin

Opening Prayer
ALMIGHTY God, we call upon you because you are the King of all kings, and Governor of all things. We know that no one is able to resist your power and we know that it is only by your all wise providence that a nation is preserved from destruction.


And though we are but poor sinners, who have forfeited our rights to anything good—and though we deserve not even the least of your tender mercies, we humbly pray to you and ask that you would cast the bounty of your favor upon all gathered here today. Indeed, we pray that you would bless all the proceedings of this event and the many others that are taking place across the nation.

To that end we pray that you would forgive all the defects that arise from our sinful hearts. And we ask that you would restrain all our sinful inclinations so that our speech may be honorable in your sight.

Most of all, we pray that this would be a time real and true renewal. We know that a renewal of a nation begins, not first with the changing of policies or princes. But it commences with the changing of hearts. So remind us, O God, it is only those who seek your face that will prosper. And true freedom is given, not to those whose ways are wicked, but only to those who fear you and keep your commandments.

For this we ask in the strong name of the true Prince Jesus Christ.  And all the people said:  Amen.



Closing Prayer
O Great Defender and Sovereign Lord, your dominion is from everlasting to everlasting, and your kingdom shall have no end. And those you bless are raised up and made strong. Those who displease you fade from the face of the earth.

So we call upon you again, asking you to bless this land with peace, justice and unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. We ask that our civil magistrates of every stripe and level be endowed with all heroic gifts and spiritual graces that might make them fit for those places which you have ordained them. And we pray that you might direct them in all their affairs that they might be restrained from working evil and enabled to govern the people with equity and righteousness.

Be also with all the citizenry of this land. Turn your face towards us in love that we might seek what is right and turn away from sin.

In all things send forth your Spirit so that the gospel of salvation in Christ might have free passage throughout our nation. May it be that our country is revitalized because your kingdom is advanced and given preeminence among us.

For we ask this is the strong name of Jesus Christ, who shall one day come again from heaven. And all the people said: Amen.
