O God of Vengeance

"O LORD, God of vengeance, O God of vengeance, shine forth!"
Psalm 94:1

Isn't He beautiful?

I'm sure that many will not agree with me. I'm sure that most people will give looks of horror or roll their eyes in disgust at such a description. I know for sure that this passage is not highlighted in many Bibles. That's because the masses desire a tame god. Everyone wants a wishy-washy, love-y god.

But this is my God, and I am glad.

He might sound too ferocious to you. But I love Him, and I love His ferocity. The blaze in His eyes does not scare me. No, it comforts me.

Moreover, His vengeful spirit shows me He is a God of love. He loves me enough to fight for me. He sees what I see: the injustice and cruelty of men. He sees me being robbed, mistreated, and threatened--and He does not like it.

He is my Savior and my Friend.

"He will bring back on them their iniquity and wipe them out for their wickedness; the LORD our God will wipe them out."
Psalm 92:23
