Intense Fire

I was recently told that the U.S. Army has a machine that can detect where an enemy gun shot originates from when troops are attacked and return 100 rounds of fire with absolute precision, all within a fraction of a second.

Absolutely amazing.

I see in that an analogy to our spiritual lives. Our sin is much like that. Every offense deserves God's (infinite and intense) wrath and curse, both in this life and the life to come.

But thanks be to God that he is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity transgression and sin. He does not return fire so quickly. Our offense may be gross, and deserve more than we could ever imagine, but he is gracious even to the most vile sinner. Moreover, when we repent, he relents.
