Here We Stand

The president's state of the union address revealed exactly where our civil leaders stand. Sadly, it is not on the side of protecting life.

When the president announced his plan for combating global warming, all the members of the senate sprung to their feet in loud adulation. The applause would have made the Super Bowl winning New York Giants jealous.

But where was the exaltation when the president announced his plan to protect the unborn? To say you could hear a pin drop would be exaggerating, but not much. People clapped, but it would have been better that they didn't, being how pathetic it was. I couldn't help but think, "They are only doing this because it is the politically correct thing to do." Sluggishly the Republican members pulled themselves out of their seats to their feet (the energy and enthusiasm obviously lacking), as if they had just remembered, "Oh, yeah. I'm on TV. I better satisfy those moronic evangelicals."

The contrast in our federal governors' actions revealed their worldview loud and clear. They don't believe in a God who's got the whole world in his hands. Nor do they understand their God given duty to preserve life and punish the evil-doer. More reason for us to be fervently praying for our civil leaders.
