Easter Hunt

In just a week churches will be breaking out their Easter eggs again. I've already seen advertisements for the good old ecclesiastical Easter egg hunts. All of it is done in the name of "reaching out" and luring people into the church. Should we expect many conversions? I think not. If they have to use candy and bunnies to lure people to the pews, we shouldn't expect many disciples to be made.

If only we could have more preachers who could speak with such unction and power, then the pews would become like magnets for souls. If only God would give us Whitfeild's, Edwards', and Dabney's again, then we might see souls saved and saints built up in the faith.

One theologian has said, "Lord, give us more pastors." Yes, this is the prayer of a godly and intelligent man. How can the world be changed? Through gospel preaching pastors. How can the political tides be reversed? Through ministers who boldly and clearly proclaim God's word. How can evil be diminished? By men declaring the whole counsel of God without fear.
