Repelling God's Deliverance

I continue to unearth precious quotes in this study of Calvin's doctrine of Scripture that I have been doing. Here is one from his commentary on Romans 1:16 where it says that the gospel is "the power of God for salvation":

Those who withdraw themselves from hearing the Word preached are willfully rejecting the power of God and repelling His hand of deliverance far from them.
