Strategic Plan Not True to Biblical Form of Church Government

Rev. Schweitzer has made some powerful points regarding the PCA's proposed Strategic Plan.  He succinctly states a number of ways that the proposal grates against a true Presbyterian form of government and favors an Episcopalian system.

His three punches include the fact that the proposal:
  1. concedes too much authority to a centralized body (i.e. the Cooperative Ministries Committee)
  2. creates a new (read unbiblical) ministerial office by establishing voluntary certification for non-ordained vocational ministry.
  3. gives power to unauthorized people (particularly women) by allowing more "seats at the table."
The glory of Presbyterianism is that it is simple.  Men who are ordained by the church and invested with Christ's authority are divinely charged with the duty of conducting the business/ministry of the church.  Each has a calling, a voice and a responsibility.

One of the comments in this article is also worthy of praise.  It points out well that if the proposal goes through we might as well just join with the PCUSA.  In essence, it replicates their renunciation of true Presbyterianism.
