I continue to be impressed with our local homeschool community. The latest reason being the geography fair that they held in the conference room at the library. About 25 kids participated, putting up displays, showing reports, and cooking authentic foods from their respective countries. Mothers ought to be commended too for their obvious involvement. As you may easily tell from the picture on the left, there was no doubt a lot of work done by both parent and child.
I've also heard that another nursing home visitation is being planned. A few months ago one of the mothers organized a trip to one of the local homes, and the kids put on a talent show of sorts--singing songs and playing instruments.
This simply demolishes the "unsocialized" myth people have about kids who are home schooled. While public school kids sit in their classrooms day after day, our home school kids are out in the community learning and serving.
