Wow. Here we go again! As Jesus said, Search the Reformed doctrine, for in it you have eternal life. Join a local division of My body, for then you can claim to be doing my will, when in actuality, you are promoting the division of My body." You see, the disciples and the early Christians met as Christians. They did not meet as followers of Peter or followers of Paul (Baptists, Methodists, Brethren, Reformed, Presbyterian, etc.). If one reads the Bible with no Biblical background at all, I think he would find American Christianity with all its denominations quite contrary to the Scriptures; but then again, why go to the Scriptures when we have the Westminster catechism and "my church" to glorify?
As for the Lone Ranger article, I have never understood that reference. The Lone Ranger did not try to hide out in an anti-social manner and be all alone. The rest of his comrades were killed, and he alone survived--thus the Lone Ranger title--the only one remaining. The Lone Ranger had Tonto, also, so to say that Christians who are not members of a local denominational church are trying to be Lone Rangers is quite ridiculous. Finally, I have never understood why some Christians seem to look down on and wrongly judge all other Christians who seek the Scriptures and have decided not to join a local denomination precisely because of what the Bible says. I know many who meet with other Christians outside of a so-called local church denominational building, and they do not think that all who join a denomination are sinning, yet some love to proclaim that all who are not in a denomination are evil heretics and unbiblical "Lone Rangers."
