Easy Come, Easy Go to Hell

Speaking of our inclination to greed and its effects, Herman Melville says this in his classic work Moby Dick, "How cheerfully we consign our selves to perdition."

Such a pithy statement, but it is pregnant with Biblical truth. In Melville's words you hear an echo of what the Apostle Paul said in 1 Timothy 6:9-10,

People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
