How did Christians survive in the days when they did not have a Bible? Austin Walker, in his series on Historical Theology, noted that the early church would read through the Old Testament once a year, the New Testament twice a year, and the psalms one time a month.
What a difference this is to many of today's evangelical churches where you may be privileged, if you are in the right church, to get a verse or two spoken from the New Living Bible or the Message!
Paul told Timothy to devote himself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation and to the teaching. Certainly they did!
