Quotes from Calvin and the Central Ohio Reformation Institute

I've been asked to lead a session at the Central Ohio Reformation Institute. My topic is to be Calvin's doctrine of Scripture, particularly focusing on how the Word of God is self-authenticating.

I thought I would share some random quotes that I came across while reading through that section of Calvin's Institutes.
The testimony of the Spirit is more excellent than all reason. For as God alone is a fit witness of himself in his Word, so also the Word will not find acceptance in men's hearts before it is sealed by the inward testimony of the Spirit.

As far as Sacred Scripture is concerned, however much froward men try to gnaw at it, nevertheless it clearly is crammed with thoughts that could not be humanly conceived.

Consequently, those for whom prophetic doctrine is tasteless ought to be thought of as lacking taste buds.
