ELCA is LGBT OK

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) has demonstrated that they are now evangelical in name only. With their two votes to fudge the sinfulness of homosexuality and accept gays as ministers they continue to thumb their noses at God and His gospel.

Having compromised the authority of Scripture long ago (the ELCA already ordains women), they are now moving to the second stage of apostasy where they openly affirm gays. This hardening will only result in further and faster decay within the denomination. The Bible clearly demonstrates that sin's gravitational pull escalates a downward spiral. As men become more and more inflamed God gives them over to their lusts.

All true Christians and faithful local churches still left in the ELCA must recognize that this open defiance of the authority of God's word requires more than a simple denunciation or sermon (no matter how good that would be). It requires physical separation. By embracing flagrant sins the Lord clearly prohibits the body demonstrates that it is no longer a true church of Jesus Christ. It has, as the Westminster Confession states, so degenerated as to become a synagogue of Satan. To affiliate with this denomination any longer is to affiliate with the legions aligned against Christ.

Separation from such institutions is not only mandated by Scripture, it is common to natural reason. No one in their right mind would join a group dedicated to the promotion of rapists and murderers. Even if you said, "I believe rape is wrong," you would not be taken seriously. The old adage is true, "You are known by the company you keep." To belong to a group that is okay with rapists is to be okay with rape yourself. To belong to a group that is okay with homosexuality is to be okay with homosexuality yourself.

Ashland has a number of ELCA churches (Trinity, Peace, St. Michael's, Pleasant Valley, not to mention the ones in the rest of the county). It will be interesting how each of these churches, and the individual Christians in those churches, react.
