A Tale of Two Kingdoms: Communism vs. Christ

Lately I've been making my way through a book entitled DUPES: How America's Adversaries Have Manipulated Progressives for a Century.  It chronicles how Soviet Russia sought to spread its evil tyranny throughout the word, particularly here in America.

Kengor quite aptly demonstrates that the Communistic leaders had nothing other than world domination as their main objective.

While reading it I can't help but see something of a parallel between the dead evil, advancement of the humanistic forces and the growing kingdom of the Lord Jesus.  The Satanic regeim had (has?) sought to implement its own Great Commission.

Both had a single head and king to whom all were/are directed.  The communistic adherents here in the foreign land of the USA sent reports along with their homage to Moscow ceaselessly.  Then they religiously obeyed any and all directives their highly esteemed leader would decree.  In my reading I could not help but be impressed by the tenacity of their preaching and their effectiveness in adding converts to their way.  At times I must ashamedly admit that they might have outdone the church in this respect.

Yet, just as clear, and just as diametrically opposed, are the means used to accomplish their desired goals.  The communists have an “anything goes” mentality.  They have no qualms about slaying people by the hundreds of millions—to the point where it almost seems like they would destroy their whole territory and citizenry.  Christ, on the other hand, commands that his rule be advanced only by the force of love.

Just as the sword has no place in the militant advance of King Jesus, neither does lying.  Truth and honesty are marks of the armies of Christ, but not of those who are anti-Christ.  Certainly, the communists prized the truth when they could exploit it.  Their main means of persuasion though was through deceit.  Thus the title of Kengor’s book, “Dupes.”  Dupes were the useful idiots that could be manipulated and used for Moscow’s purposes.

Finally, it must be remembered that ends of the two kingdoms, though generally the same (that of world domination), diverge significantly in their ultimate realization.  Communism enslaves its subjects—at least those that are permitted to live.  It promises the bliss of “peace on earth and goodwill to men” that Christ came to impart, but it renders nothing other than radical tyranny, poverty, and misery.

In sum, the devilish work of sinful man can only impose a woeful imposter to the glories that will be revealed in Christ's eschaton.
