Over the last month or so, we have had many reasons to give thanks to God. I wanted to take a moment here and give praise to God and public testimony to how He in His kind providence has answered our specific prayers.
He has answered many personal prayers
- The provision of a baby
Our family has longed to adopt another child for quite some time. In the last six months to a year we have been praying quite earnestly for a new baby. This past June the Lord saw fit to answer that prayer. We are now the proud parents of another baby girl. - The provision of a new van
The addition to our family meant that we out grew our Toyota Camry. We felt terrible for our oldest child, who would squish in between her younger sister's car seats when we had to hit the road. We recognized that it would be almost impossible to find a reliable upgrade within our price range. This proved to be all too easy for the Lord. Yesterday He provided a sweet deal on a top of the line vehicle. My oldest daughter is most grateful! - The sustaining grace towards our old car
I should not fail to mention too that the Lord's goodness has been manifested towards us in that He has sustained our material possessions quite extensively. The car that we have had has gone the distance with minimal work needing done to it.
For 6 years our church prayed for the persecuted church in Sudan. These Christians mainly live in the southern region and have been hounded by the Muslims in the north for over 20 years. God has answered our prayers by his establishing South Sudan as a free and independent country. While there are still many hostilities that are being addressed, and most likely a long way from being at peace as the northerners are corrupt pagans, the new country has a great deal of potential. The jubilation of the South Sudanese gives open witness to this. In another article I read this past week I saw that the leaders of the country gave open acknowledgment of God and his power in their speeches—a great reason for praise in itself!
God has indeed been good in this a national scale work. Having had the encouragement of this answered prayer I shall now be greedy enough to ask that He would re-unite the countries through the evangelization of northern, Muslim-laden Sudan. I will also begin to re-focus my prayers on the country which is the worst persecutor of Christians, North Korea.
