Crying Out about the Cry Out America Prayer Event

Today I went to a city wide prayer event called, "Cry Out America." I saw it as a mixed event. One the one hand there were some great things. The best example of this was Anne Cline who offered up an amazing prayer of repentance. On the other hand there were some great examples of why we need to cry out to God.

One of the two women ministers who spoke serves as the best example of this. Joanne Shade, of the Salvation Army, was slotted to do some readings from some historical documents. These were, to the best of my knowledge, to be some inspirational pieces that would urge us on to further the cause of Christ in America. The only thing is that two of the four readings were from Jimmy Carter and Barak Obama, two men who we can hardly say are valiant Christian men.

In essence, we came to God in prayer and gave him the finger.

I believe we need to cry out to God for America. However, we must also remember that judgment begins with the house of the Lord. Before we cry out for our nation, we must first humble ourselves before him and submit to His word. We cannot put on the facade of repentance and go on to promote things that are explicitly unbiblical, like Barak Obama and women clergy. If we do, we will only intensify God's anger and put ourselves in even more danger.
