God Contends with the Evangelical Cult

I've already found our study of Isaiah in our morning services quite interesting. The passage for this morning was most suitable for the church in America today. The message was entitled, "God Contends with the Evangelical Cult" and was based on Isaiah 1.10-17. I wanted to mark it here so that, if you are not a regular reader of the sermons, you could check it out (sorry, there is no audio on this one).

Church attendance remains relatively the same as it was 20-30 years ago, but knowledge of and love for the Scriptures has waned in incredible increments. What we are seeing is that we have pagans in the pews. People love to worship God, but do not want God and His law telling them how to live their daily lives. How do you think God feels about the worship that they give?

I liked that sermon. The words were true in Isaiah's day, and are just as true today. It is good to see someone actually apply the Bible to our lives today. I am amazed, when I read the Scriptures and see the incredible amount of relevance and application to our lives and nation today, how so many pastors can go to the same Scriptures and week after week end up with irrelevant pointless fluff stuff sermons.
